I WHO HAVE NOTHING

Not to improve our lives but rather our choice of booze. Thinking what else is there? What is more potent than sobriety itself? A strong mind is our power. Energy to seek and find an ethical life to repair the damage drinking has done to us. Groups can change us. Get us started and never give up. Can help us recover from a loss. Simple group sessions can explain why we refuse to conform. And why some drinkers think relapse makes better sense. A simple “I don’t want this life anymore” kept me sober for many years. Does relapse replace the absence of what is missing in our lives? Go to bars and get drunk. Will you find it there and bring it home? What you will bring home is the same grief all the other drunken nights gave us in the past. Pretend to yourself that there is an advantage in every relapse you believed was worthwhile. We are all our own private fool. Is it worth an applause? Behind a locked door feeling guilty because you lied to yourself and everyone around you. Sobriety is based on honesty. Start with yourself and feel proud. Then you can give yourself a standing ovation.
